  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: Serves approximately 12 rolls 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 tbsp instant dry yeast
  • 4 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar (for dough)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (for filling)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter (very soft)
  • 1 ¾ cups fresh or frozen strawberries
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • ½ cup cream cheese (softened)
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (softened for glaze)
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp cold strawberry puree

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberry filling by cooking strawberries with lemon juice and sugar until thickened. Blend until smooth and cool.
  2. Make the dough by mixing flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a stand mixer. Add warm milk, butter, and egg; knead until smooth. Let it rise until doubled.
  3. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the cooled strawberry filling, roll tightly, and cut into strips.
  4. Arrange in a baking dish, let rise again until puffy, then bake at 350°F for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  5. While cooling slightly, prepare the glaze by blending cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and strawberry puree.
