  • 2 lb thinly sliced sirloin steak or boneless beef chuck roast
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1/2 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tbsp cornstarch (for thickening)
  • 12 oz frozen broccoli florets

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef into thin strips if not pre-sliced.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine beef stock, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and minced garlic; stir well.
  3. Place the sliced beef in the slow cooker and pour the sauce over it evenly.
  4. Cover and cook on low heat for about 5–6 hours until the beef is tender.
  5. About 30 minutes before serving, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry; stir into the crock pot to thicken the sauce. Add frozen broccoli florets during this last half hour of cooking.
  6. Serve over cooked white rice if desired.
