Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 cup yellow onion, diced
- 1 cup sliced carrots
- 1 cup sliced celery
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 cups chicken broth
- 8 oz. uncooked elbow macaroni
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz. sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 sesame seed buns (for croutons)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. Spread bun cubes on a parchment-lined baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and bake for 10 minutes until crispy.
- In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef seasoned with oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper; remove from pot.
- In the same pot, melt butter and sauté onions, carrots, celery, and garlic until tender.
- Stir in flour and cook for one minute before adding chicken broth and macaroni.
- Bring to a simmer and cook until the pasta is al dente.
- Stir in heavy cream and cheddar cheese until melted; then add back the cooked ground beef.
- Season to taste before serving hot topped with sesame seed croutons.
