- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/4 cup hot water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 square baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
- Spread the cake batter evenly in the prepared pan.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and additional cocoa powder; sprinkle this mixture over the batter.
- Pour hot water over the top without stirring.
- Bake for about 35 minutes or until set.
- Serve warm, optionally topped with ice cream or whipped cream.
