- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 large apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, melted or softened
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, cream together unsalted butter, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Gradually add all-purpose flour and mix until just combined. Press this mixture into an even layer in an 8×8-inch baking pan.
- In another bowl, toss sliced apples with flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread over the shortbread base.
- In a clean bowl, combine remaining flour with brown sugar and melted butter; crumble over the apple filling.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown. Allow cooling before slicing into squares.
