  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 16 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 60 ml milk
  • 120 ml water
  • 21 g active dry yeast
  • 50 g sugar
  • 550 g Manitoba flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 70 g unsalted butter
  • 750 ml vegetable oil, for frying
  • 80 g sugar (for coating)
  • 40 g powdered sugar (for coating)
  • 10 g vanilla sugar (for coating)
  • 350 g Chocolate Spread
  • 360 g apricot jam

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine lukewarm milk, water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a stand mixer, mix flour, eggs, salt, and the yeast mixture. Knead on low then medium speed for about 6-8 minutes until elastic. Add butter and knead for another 3-4 minutes.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise at room temperature until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Roll out the dough to about 2 cm thick and cut heart shapes using a cookie cutter. Allow them to rise again for approximately 1 hour.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry each doughnut until golden brown on both sides.
  6. Coat warm doughnuts in a sugar mixture and fill with your choice of jam or chocolate spread.
