  • Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Yield: About 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1½ cups cold unsalted butter (cubed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup ice water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 6 to 7 cups sliced apples (peeled and cored)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until coarse crumbs form.
  3. Combine eggs, ice water, and lemon juice in another bowl; mix into the flour until just combined.
  4. Divide dough into two pieces, flatten into rectangles, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  5. Toss sliced apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, lemon juice, and vanilla until evenly coated.
  6. Roll out the larger piece of dough to fit the pan; press it into the bottom. Spread the apple filling over it.
  7. Roll out the second piece of dough to cover the filling completely; trim and crimp edges while cutting vents in the top crust.
  8. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
  9. Cool on a wire rack; whisk glaze ingredients together and spread over cooled apple slices.
