  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole-rolled old-fashioned oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 35 caramel squares
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch pan with aluminum foil.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and then whisk in brown sugar and vanilla until smooth. Stir in flour, oats, baking soda, and salt until combined.
  3. Press half of the mixture into the prepared pan and bake for about 10 minutes.
  4. In another bowl, combine caramel squares and heavy cream. Microwave in bursts until melted and smooth.
  5. Remove the base from the oven, sprinkle with chocolate chips, pour caramel over them, then crumble remaining oat mixture on top.
  6. Bake for an additional 15 to 18 minutes until golden edges form.
  7. Allow to cool completely before slicing into bars.
