- 3 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup butter, softened and divided
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch cake pan.
- In one bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
- Gradually combine dry ingredients with the wet mixture while alternating with milk until smooth.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt brown sugar and remaining butter until bubbly; pour into the greased pan.
- Arrange banana slices over the caramel layer, then pour the cake batter on top.
- Bake for about 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown and set in the middle.
- Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before flipping onto a serving plate.
