- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup fresh sliced strawberries
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup white sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter (for batter)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a 9-inch round baking pan, melt the butter for the topping over low heat. Add brown sugar and mix well. Spread evenly in the pan and layer sliced strawberries on top.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, white sugar, and baking powder; mix thoroughly.
- Add milk, butter, egg, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and beat until smooth using an electric mixer.
- Pour or dollop the batter over the strawberries evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
