Ingredients
- 1 pound thinly sliced beef (flank steak or sirloin) or chicken/tofu
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (or honey/coconut sugar)
- 1/2 cup water or broth
- 2 tablespoons oil for frying
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 cup green onions (cut into pieces)
- Optional: sesame seeds, chili flakes
Instructions
- Prepare all ingredients by slicing your protein and chopping vegetables.
- Combine cornstarch, soy sauce, brown sugar, water or broth, and hoisin sauce in a bowl; stir until smooth.
- Heat oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger; stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add sliced beef to the pan in a single layer; sear without stirring for about 2 minutes. Flip and cook until browned.
- Pour in the sauce mixture along with green onions; stir well to coat evenly. Cook for another 3-5 minutes until heated through and thickened.
- Serve immediately over cooked rice or noodles, topped with optional sesame seeds or chili flakes.
