Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 bell pepper, finely chopped
- 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the olive oil with chopped onion, bell pepper, and celery until soft (5-7 minutes). Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef with sautéed vegetables, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, eggs, herbs, salt, and pepper until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or in a greased loaf pan. Spread half of the tomato sauce over the top.
- Bake for 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
