- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cold unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold whole milk
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup bittersweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1 egg for egg wash
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add cold butter and mix until crumbly.
- Gradually combine cold milk and water until incorporated, then knead gently until smooth.
- Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick; fold into thirds like a letter; repeat this process three times.
- Cut the rolled-out dough into triangles and place chocolate chips and almonds at the wide end. Roll tightly towards the pointed end.
- Place croissants on a lined baking sheet, brush with egg wash, let rise for about 30 minutes, then bake at 400°F (200°C) for 18 minutes until golden brown.
