Ingredients
- 12 fresh Fuji apples
- 2 cups water
- 1 to 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Peel and cut the Fuji apples into chunks.
- Place the apple chunks in a large pot and cover with 2 cups of water.
- Bring to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low and cover.
- Cook covered for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally until apples darken and soften.
- Stir frequently as it thickens; use a spoon to break up larger chunks.
- Serve warm, topped with butter and sprinkled with cinnamon and nutmeg.
