  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 8

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with chopped onion. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until evenly combined.
  3. In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread half of the meat mixture on the bottom. Layer half of the sliced potatoes over the meat. Repeat with remaining meat mixture followed by another layer of potatoes.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth. Pour this mixture evenly over the layered meat and potatoes in the baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top layer. Drizzle melted butter across the cheese for extra richness.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake in preheated oven for about 45 minutes. Remove foil during the last 15 minutes to allow cheese to become bubbly and golden brown.
  7. Once done, let it cool slightly before serving hot. Garnish with paprika if desired.
