  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 lemon (juiced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (smashed)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 ½ teaspoons smoked paprika
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¾ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¾ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¾ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • optional: up to ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • kosher salt and ground black pepper to season

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl or jar, combine olive oil, lemon juice, smashed garlic, honey, cumin, smoked paprika, cinnamon, ginger, oregano, turmeric. If desired, add cayenne pepper along with salt and pepper.
  2. Mix well using a whisk or shake the jar until you achieve a thick paste.
  3. Pour the marinade over your choice of protein or veggies ensuring they are fully coated.
  4. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours or up to 2 days before cooking.
