Ingredients
- 6 day-old croissants
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or fresh berries)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar (optional for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and place half in a baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- Layer the remaining croissants on top and sprinkle half of the chocolate chips over them. Repeat with the rest of the croissants and chocolate.
- Pour the custard mixture evenly over the layered croissants, pressing down gently.
- Bake for about 35 minutes or until golden brown and set in the center.
- Let cool slightly before serving warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar.
