Ingredients
- 1 lb ground lamb or beef
- 1 small red onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
- 1 medium tomato, grated
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- Olive oil for brushing
- 4 large Lebanese-style pita breads
- ½ cup grated Gruyere cheese
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb or beef with onion, garlic, parsley, grated tomato, and spices. Mix until well blended.
- Cut each pita in half to create pockets and stuff each pocket with the meat mixture and some Gruyere cheese.
- Brush the outside of each stuffed pita generously with olive oil.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the stuffed pitas on a baking sheet for about 15 minutes until crispy and golden.
- Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce.
