Ingredients
- 3 small oranges or tangelos (about 18–20 slices)
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 3 cups water
Instructions
- Slice each orange into ¼-inch rounds using a sharp knife or mandoline.
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves completely.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to a gentle simmer and add the orange slices in a single layer. Simmer for 45–60 minutes, turning occasionally until peels become translucent.
- Carefully remove slices using tongs and place them on a wire rack to cool and dry at room temperature for 24–48 hours until tacky but set.
- For added flair, optionally roll in sugar or dip in melted chocolate before serving.
