- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)

- 3 – 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ⅔ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ teaspoon fine sea salt
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- For coating: ½ cup granulated sugar, 3 tablespoons light brown sugar (packed), and 1 ½ tablespoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by stirring warm milk and yeast in a bowl; let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
- In another bowl, whisk together the egg, melted butter, and vanilla.
- Mix dry ingredients (3 cups flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon) in a stand mixer bowl.
- Combine wet and yeasted mixtures into the dry ingredients; mix until dough forms.
- Knead on medium speed for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Allow dough to rise in a greased bowl for about an hour until doubled in size.
- Punch down and let it rise again for another hour.
- Cut the dough into pieces, twist into shapes, and allow to rest while heating oil to 325°F.
- Fry twists until golden brown (about 5 minutes), then coat in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
