Ingredients
- 900 g (2 lbs) potatoes
- Salt (to taste)
- 100 g (1/2 cup) butter
- 50 ml (1/4 cup) whole milk (hot)
Instructions
- Prepare the brown butter: In a small saucepan, heat butter over medium heat until melted and frothy. Stir continuously until it turns golden brown, then remove from heat.
- Cook the potatoes: Peel and quarter the potatoes. Place in a large pot of salted water and boil until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and let steam dry briefly.
- Mash and combine: Return the potatoes to the pot, add hot milk, and mash until mostly smooth. Pour in the brown butter and mix until desired consistency is reached.
- Season and serve: Adjust salt to taste and serve hot, optionally drizzled with extra melted butter.
